PostSubject: how big are your utes?   Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:19 pm

just wondered who had measured their dogs and how big they were, I havent measured Esk but she is a big ole lump and still growing, I gather the sulin lines are known for big beasties, and no I am not worried about how big she may grow just curious, what inspired the thought was she used to curl up under my coffee table by my feet, last night a firework made her jump (me and Roxy too the damnable things) and she tried to jump up and lifted my coffee table off its feet, she kinda looked like a funky designer turtle for a minute til I rescued her! once I had extricated her from her shell, got everyone laying down calmly again, (will not pander to anxiety about fireworks!!) I noticed that she was very much bigger than Roxy now. once I can find my tape measure in the chaos that is currently my home I will measure her.

so how big do these beasties grow?

I always measure to the top of the shoulders - like measuring a horse to the top of the withers. Tai is 28", and must weigh at least 100 lbs. He is a big old boy. He is around 27-28". Eddie Harrison's female Timber was 28" I remember.

My Inca was 1/4 inch off of 29inch, she was the tallest bitch that I have owned but then her dad was a very big boy. Tim weighed in over 12 stone, the weight being in his bones, he was 33inch to the withers so to speak. I have seen his son's[ some of them!] reach the same height but not the weight. But he was a one off I love you . I have not measured the dogs I have now so it would be good to know. I know that they are no where near the sizes that I used to breed due to moving away and introduceing different lines. lol!
