Meet Maggie May Empty Meet Maggie May

Post by Guest Fri Apr 08, 2011 9:01 am

Please meet Maggie May one of two new members to our family, our other nanny goat will hopefully arrive this weekend. She is such a gentle goat and is due to kid within a week or so. I am so excited as it has been sometime since I've had them around and even longer since we've had four legged kids. I don't think she liked having her photo taken, flash lights spooked her a bit but will take more when nanny two arrives.
I have put a pic up of our two ducks too ( Roger and Charlotte ).

Roger and Charlotte are right little romantics at the moment I love you though she is not sitting yet Neutral as for Maggie May, I just wish she would hurry up. Apparently she had triplets last time What a Face affraid . Her friend that is comming is a Golden Gurnsey cheers cheers one of my favourite breeds of goat, as you know June they and the old English goat were the ones I used to breed and show with one of my friends. The goldens are where I learnt about open stud books, they were crossed with the saanan to widen the gene pool, the resulting progeny were called Brittish Golden Gurnseys. They still open the stud book from time to time so I am told. Must say the knowledge has come in useful. Very Happy

Thank You Eleanor lol, as for the Falabella's I think I will stick with what I have as I'm not as fit as I used to be but like you say it feels like I'm back to 25 years ago, I loved every minute of it too, the best part is I have learnt and have the knowledge from keeping them before so there is less stress and worry leaving me more time to enjoy in quite confidence Very Happy xxx

Goats can and are more often than not very sweet and mild mannered, nothing like hearing her chewing her cud, it's very peaceful and calming. Mind you kid goats are totally the opposite, playful, full of fun and good cheer but can get into mischief. Nothing like watching kids play to cheer the spirit lol xx
