Re: Hanuka 13 today
Hanuka says thankyou to all who wished her a happy birthday . I thought it would be good if not intreasting to know a little more about her [ more so for the newbies to the Utonagan breed ]. As you will have gatherd she was 13yrs yesterday. I got her as a 7wk pup, she was out of a large litter and her father was my Timber,s brother [ also white and looked nothing like my Tim ]. I had no intention of breeding when I got her, the long and short of it was she had a silent season [ never knew there was such a thing in those days ! ], They had a lovely litter and one of their pups went on to breed [ Sulin Lowell ]. When it came to the last pup to be sold I nearly had a fight between two wanna be owners so to defuse the situation I promised to breed again and give first choice to the pup less person, which I did. I was still not in a position on the second litter to keep a pup myself so I bred her again to Tote-Tims Dreamcatcher and kept a pup called Inca [ yep! that is where my phrase ink marked came from ]. Hanuka was always speacial to me and everything she dose is too., She is the most natural dog/bitch that I have ever met or owned. Her nick name is Spooky and is very apt, quiet on her feet, quiet in her ways, all knowing no matter the situation. I have learnt so much from her regarding forgotten historical instinct of the canine. Through her I owe my knowledge. Through her I owe the Sulin line.
Now this bit is mainly for the newbies as those of old already know the story. Because it is fashion now to only give out 3 generation pedigrees most of you will not realise that Hanuka and Tote-tims dreamcatcher [re named without permission as Tote tims ] are behind most of your pups. But that was not mainly mine or my dogs doing but that of a few trusted breeders who went on to breed from their progeny. Hanuka has had five litters and orphan reared one litter of kieshunds [ I hope I spelt that right lol!even produceing milk for them ] and succsessfuly too! she had four litters with my Timber and one with Bleddyn. All litters were small in numbers, averaging threes and fours. If you research in depth[ including non documented ] you will find she and Timber are 7-9 [ maybe more ] times great grandparents.
I have just read this to myself and I just cannot believe that without intention that I am still here after 15yrs, never did I for see that I would breed or name the breed, neither did I realise that I would cause such intreast.
Final word, Hanuka reminds me so much of the story/fable of the Utonagan.
Next weeks lesson "how and why our breed was named Utonagan"

Hal will be turning in his grave, Lyn, at the thoughts of lost opportunities. It is so sad, what magnificent babies they would have had. She is a beautiful and very grand looking old lady.
