i can honestly say the bigger snakes scare me a little. i dont like the idea of such a powerful creature wrapping around my body.

Me too !! Mike and I hired a car and drove across Sri Lanka from west to east and one day when we stopped on the side of the road, as you do, to go and do a bit of snorkling, we had to walk through this jungly bit to get to the beach. To make it easier, we decided to wade down through this stream. We were sloshing our way along, when in front of me swimming away from us was a vividly coloured orange snake, a dear little thing. I tried to keep up with him, but he disappeared and we carried on onto the beach and had our snorkel, and then waded back to the car. It was only a few days later when we were talking to the swimming pool attendant at our hotel on the east coast that we discovered this was the deadly Coral Snake !! A bite from him, and we would have dead within minutes. But he knew that we were not going to harm him, we were not showing any intention to harm, just interest. He was so pretty, it is hard to imagine he could have killed us!
