A bit of countryside in the city, woodland, wildlife garden, deer park and open grazing skirted by the white cart river.

I used to go walks there when I was a wee girl growing up in Govan, with my pals, WB. It wasn't far from where I stayed really! It was called Pollok Estate in those days. It also houses the Burrell Collection - the Glasgow council built a whole new gallery to house the Burrell collection - it is some place to see!

Oh it is all thanks to you, WB, for posting all the info on here:) If you ever come up to Scotland and especiall Glasgow, you should visit the Burrell Collection! The Pollok Estate also has the "big hoose" (as we children called it back then), the family seat of the Maxwell family. Here is a link about the house - http://www.glasgowmuseums.com/venue/index.cfm?venueid=10

We also used to pick bluebells from there as well:)

Glasgow has a lot of lovely parks and I know that at one time Glasgow had more parks than the whole of Europe!! Where I came from in Govan, Glasgow, we had two - the Elder park, which was donated to the people of Govan from Lady Elder. The Elders owne the shipyard and made large liners from their yards in Govan. The there is the Bellahouston park, which is another nice place to walk thru and the council built a house within the grounds of it, from designs found in store by the famous Rennie McIntosh, who was a Glaswegian! http://www.crmsociety.com/

Oh sorry for going on about Glasgow:)

    Take care:)
