Anyone going to Crufts?

I didn't get there last year, which I really missed.
Love all the shopping!
Well window shopping really lol
I will be interesting to see the real effects now that alot of company's have pulled out.

Be nice to meet you - I will be round the Malamutes most of the day - ask anyone who Julie with Noobie is and they will know - altho Noobie isn't coming I will be wearing a jumper with a rat on it

i cant make it this year, we were there last year spent to much as it was.

make sure you only take so much money and leave your credit cards at home

I did look for you, and asked but they said you had gone shopping!
I sat down and watched some of the classes, but fell asleep! ( due to being up all night with grandson!).

Is it me? but the Malamutes don't seem to be as big as they used to be.

Mals haven't shrunk - but they were all on their best behaviour and they do seem smaller with 4 feet on the ground
Some are whoppingly huge - but of course the massively oversize guys don't qualify for Crufts ...

why not ?? !! This is what makes we SO ANGRY about the whole pedigree dog scene !! Not getting at you Julie, but what utter tommy rot it is for a beautiful pedigree Mal who is perfect in every way, but just happens to be taller than some stupid bloody rule dictates ... as if that mattered !!! And yet GSDs with backs so sloping that they are sitting on their heels bloody win !!!! Grrrrrrrr

I SO wish that pedigree dogs at shows had to perform the function for which they were originally intended ... then we'd soon see which the best dogs were, and it wouldn't be those poor crippled GSDs that's for sure !!

Actually it is because of working - some who are over the size given in the standard do still do well in shows but some (generally bred by moneygrabbing fools are huge) and these would not qualify as a Malamute is a freighting breed - designed to pull a heavy load over a long distance and those dogs who are on the large side are not efficient as workers and lack in power as their height to length ratios etc tend to be incorrect and they also tend to have less front - the Mally breed standard is all based on form following function

pardon my ignorance ! Three cheers for whoever set the Mal standard, and my sincerest apologies for casting nasturtiums !

Why can't all breeds show such responsibility - then I wouldn't be so anti pedigree. Thanks Julie for your patience in explaining this to me.
