Be nice to meet you - I will be round the Malamutes most of the day - ask anyone who Julie with Noobie is and they will know - altho Noobie isn't coming I will be wearing a jumper with a rat on it

Mals haven't shrunk - but they were all on their best behaviour and they do seem smaller with 4 feet on the ground
Some are whoppingly huge - but of course the massively oversize guys don't qualify for Crufts ...

why not ?? !! This is what makes we SO ANGRY about the whole pedigree dog scene !! Not getting at you Julie, but what utter tommy rot it is for a beautiful pedigree Mal who is perfect in every way, but just happens to be taller than some stupid bloody rule dictates ... as if that mattered !!!

Actually it is because of working - some who are over the size given in the standard do still do well in shows but some (generally bred by moneygrabbing fools are huge) and these would not qualify as a Malamute is a freighting breed - designed to pull a heavy load over a long distance and those dogs who are on the large side are not efficient as workers and lack in power as their height to length ratios etc tend to be incorrect and they also tend to have less front - the Mally breed standard is all based on form following function
(Unlike many breeds)
