I went to see my lovely butcher in Milton Keynes today because we have run out of Landywoods meat and he GAVE me for free 2 massive bags of cows lights (lungs). When I was young my mother always used to cook up lights for the cat, but I want to feed the boys on raw lights. Tai absolutely scoffed his up, Ben wasn't so keen but did eat some and little Gucci is still tucking into his with Tai dribbling in the background !! I see no reason why they should make them ill, but I just wondered if anyone else fed raw lights?

Re: Anyone feed Lights?
Quite a few people on Britbarf feed them and I know Mary with Zillar feeds them because I have seen them all ready in the dish for her.
I have read of people cooking them in the oven and then using them for training treats as well.

Re: Anyone feed Lights?
I've just cooked some up for the cat, and fed some raw to the dogs! Tai absolutely adored them and hoovered them up and then chased poor Ben off his bowl! Ben quite liked them, but wasn't too mad, and Gucci thought they were delicious and is still munching away on them !

Not sure if I can look at them, which is why I have never ventured into the realms of Lights

Re: Anyone feed Lights?
I feed lights to all mine with no problems , helps to stretch out the more expensive cuts
I also get the economy mince from Landywoods, which sometimes is just all lights! but most of the time is a very good mix of all the bits.

Re: Anyone feed Lights?
mmm still don't know if I can do it.....I can do heart now, at first I couldn't handle it but it doesn't bother me in the least, tried pigs head with them (after getting the butcher to chop it in half and take the brain and eyes out eugh..) but they didn't like it and sniffed and left it for just over a day, so it got chucked out, that was bad enough. I had to pick the halves up on a shovel and try not to look when I put them in carrier bags

Re: Anyone feed Lights?
What are you like !! Actually, it smelled delicious. What I wasn't so keen on was removing the windpipes, I didn't think the dogs would like to eat those, so I cut them off. The cat is ecstatic over her cooked lights, and Tai absolutely adores them, so does Gucci. Ben is less so, but will eat them.
