Was in the butchers today getting girlies meat, ox heart, bones etc. and he asked if I wanted a pigs head. Only if you take the eyes and the brain out and cut it in two I said. He said he would take the eyes out - I said NOPE all or nothing, so he said OK. Then told me it would be £5 I near passed out at that I can tell you He then said to me, that on Fathers Day his 2 sons had bought him a piglet from each of them, one named Pinky one named Perky, it is apparently Pinky's head I have bought Not liked to ask what has happened to Perky

Watch out for the gas - mine had pigs head JUST THE ONCE because the smell was awful - they may well also leave the teeth LOL LOL

i dont get gas from them they love the brains and eyes. takes them a while to eat the ears though.

Well they live outside so they can gas the neighbours...never thought about the teefs though poor Pinky, but he will have had a good life, from the size of his head I would say he was extremely well fed, if you think about it he will only have been about 5 months old.
Never fed a pigs head before though because of the eyes and stuff, but as he has removed them for me I thought I would give it a whirl

even skin rabbits that crystal used to catch she managed to get 15 in about hour and half when young she might catch 1 now days,
and not saying a thing about the munkjack she nearly got.

oooh Cariad nearly got a deer a few years ago, she couldn't run fast enough I think, Lona ran after her, but appeared on the horizon a bit later looking fed up, then Cariad came back shortly after that. I have no idea whatsoever what I would have done with a deceased deer

crystal was a nats whisker off it butt before it jumped the fence 2 more seconds and she would of had it.

How would you have got it home if she had got it???

I do find it irritating the prices butchers charge, especially as they have to pay to dispose of pigs heads and bones, they should be glad we are taking it off their hands. From a business point of view it makes perfect sence, if its in demand - charge.

Yeah and he sulks because I use Landywoods, he actually said to me....so..you have ANOTHER butcher....like I was unfaithful to him

you need to get a lovely butcher like mine. if i order things from him and he has trouble getting it or forgets sometimes i get it at cost or even free like have with few pigs heads and they were clearing out the big freezers one day and found a box of chiken wings hiding so i got them free.

they keep all the bones for me and carcases for me i get them free of charge,
came home one day and the size of the beef bones and the amount of meat that was on them even the chicken bits could make a hearty soup.

they do so much stuff for me saving me loads.

Yuck to piglets head! As much as I love my dogs I don't think my stomach would survive that!
I use several butchers for bones & breast of lamb. The bones usually free or small charge but the breast of lamb can work out very expensive. I use the big supermarkets for chickens as they're so cheap (no pun intended lol!).

Cariad keeps looking at hers, Lona has buried hers in the shavings, so it looks like there has been a blizzard outside I have never fed pork to them before, so maybe they are not keen on the smell??? Just come back from a long trek and given them a banana each and then will see if they get stuck in, if they haven't had them by tomorrow I will throw them out as I am worried they will go off, bin day tomorrow so they will be gone quickly

Hal refused to eat anything porky, and Tai is no different. I bought him a couple of lovely pigs trotters off Daventry market the other day, and he turned his nose up at them.

about feeding raw pork ... I am thinking trichitosis and tapeworm in particular here. However, I thought in for a penny, in for a pound, but no, even greedy guts Tai won't touch Napoleon ... quite right too, pigs are lovely animals, and don't deserve to be eaten by Norties !!

Pinky's head has gone off to the binmen this morning, I left Pinky out for them all day, they have chewed round the edges a bit but that is it. Lona was standing up at the back door last night looking for her tea so I thought well Madam you will have to eat what I have left you, but nope still there this morning so they have had brekkie and a pig's ear each (which they love)
I daren't leave it any longer, weather being so warm, Pork goes off really quick, and like you say Nikki there is the worm side of things to bear in mind as well
