Is pet food poisoning dogs

I remember when we first put Hal on to the BARF diet, our own vet was actually very practical about it, but I remember one time after this we had to see another vet because our own was on holiday, and she was very scathing and said "dog food manufacturers invest millions of pounds into their product, which must mean that this is the best way to feed a dog". To me that was absolute nonsense, and actually meant just the opposite.

I don't know how it is now at veterinary college, but back then it was a very sad fact that veterinary students probably only attended two or three lectures at the very most on nutrition. Nutrition is the most important aspect of any creatures' healthy existence, and it should be absolutely mandatory that vet. students attend EVERY lecture going on nutrition and diet.

If you read the article Nikki, that is exactly the point it makes, vet students are more or less brainwashed by the large pet food manufacturers.

Interesting although animals in the wild rarely live long enough to know if they would develop the same diseases as more domesticated animals do who live to a longer age.
Maska and I are both happy with the 'natural instinct' food and think I will stick with that. Can't say I have noticed any improvment in his coat or anything else, I haven't but he loves it. Strange that none of my cats eat it. If I left raw mince on the counter it would be gone but even the 'pure' beef one they will not touch.
Is 'human' meat poisioning humans and therefore our dogs too!!....................
